Microsoft is putting the brakes on the rollout of a new artificial intelligence feature designed to make SharePoint page creation and editing much easier.
The company recently updated its announcement for “Create and edit SharePoint pages with Copilot-powered AI,” confirming on August 19, 2026, that the rollout has been paused for some tenants. Microsoft says it will provide another update through the Microsoft 365 Message center when it is ready to proceed.
The pause comes as organizations are increasingly looking to generative AI to simplify everyday content creation. Rather than manually adding sections, writing copy, arranging layouts and configuring web parts, eligible SharePoint users are expected to be able to describe what they want in natural language and let Copilot assist with the work.
The feature is aimed at SharePoint page editors who have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and is designed to bring AI directly into the page-authoring experience.
A New Way to Build SharePoint Pages
Traditionally, creating a polished SharePoint page requires users to work through the platform’s editing interface, add web parts, arrange sections and write or paste content manually.
